Summer holidays are almost upon us! Exams have been completed and report cards are being generated. We held our Grad Gala last night at the Jubilee with great success! Pictures to come soon on our social media.

We want to thank all of our O’Neill CVI families for your perseverance and support through this school year. We did it! We made it through and continue to move forward.

Before we leave for the summer, we wanted to send out a few updates for our Grade 12 Commencement, the final report card and the new school year.

Grade 12 Commencement

We are looking forward to celebrating the graduates of the Class of 2023 tomorrow morning. The ceremony will begin at the Tribute Community Centre at 10:00am. Graduates are asked to arrive by 9:00 to receive the caps and gowns. The doors will open to guests at that time as well. Please be reminded that there is no parking at the Tribute Centre, so families should plan to use street parking or the parkade on Mary Street between King and Bond streets. We expect the ceremony to finish before 12:30 and kindly ask graduates and guests to remain until it is finished.

Semester Two Final Report Cards

Final Report Cards will be available via emails on Friday, July 7^th at 3:00pm. You will need your child’s OEN to access.

Bell Times

These remain the same for next year. Our school will be starting at 8:00am and finishing at 2:00pm.

First Day Back in September

We will be hosting our Grade 9 Transition Day for students and their parents/guardians on Tuesday, September 5th, 2023. More information about this date will be sent to our incoming Grade 9 families in late August.

Grade 10 to 12 students will be beginning their school year on Wednesday, September 6th, 2023.

Again, messaging will be sent out to families with these and other reminders in late August/Early September.

To all those leaving us, we wish you all the best wishes for a bright future! To all those returning, we will see you in September!

Grade 9s! Class of 2027

Hello Parents, Guardians and Families of the Class of 2027!

O'Neill will be hosting our Grade 9 Day on Tuesday September 5^th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attached to this email you will find a "survival guide" created by the Grade 12 Leadership Class for all of our new Grade 9 students.

All Grade 9 students are asked to complete the Grade 9 Day Registration form at this link before Friday August 25^th . A detailed schedule and other information can be found inside the survival guide. Grade 9 Day is a chance for all Grade 9s to become oriented and comfortable in the school before our Grade 10-12 students return on Wednesday September 6th.

O'Neill CVI Messages & Important Dates

We had a successful Canadian and World Studies trip to Montreal, Quebec City and Ottawa last week. We accomplished a lot of learning along the way, along with many, many steps (I am positive the students were exhausted when they finally arrived home!) and had an incredible time. It has been a while since we have had a lengthy trip like this so a huge thank you to Mr. Holland, all our staff and students for making it such a memorable one!

As we head into the final few weeks of school, I wanted to share some important dates and messages coming up.

School Community Council Meeting

Our next and final SCC meeting of the school year will happen on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at 6:30pm. We will be running our SCC in-person in the library and also opening a google meet for those who would like virtual. Please come to the library on the 2^nd floor to join. To attend virtually, please send an email to oneillcvi@ddsb.ca to request a link to the meeting. All parents/guardians are welcome to join!

Monday, June 19 and Tuesday, June 20, 2023	Exams begin for Grade 12’s only. These days will have a specialized schedule for all classes (Grades 9 to 11) and exams (Grade 12’s). More information to come!

Wednesday, June 21, to Tuesday, June 27, 2023	Exam period. No Grade 9 exams. Completing Grade 10 to 12 exams. Separate exam information to come out to all families soon!
Friday, June 23, 2023	Credit Completion Day for *Grade 12’s only*.
Wednesday, June 28, 2023	Credit Completion for *Grades 9 to 11.* More information to come.
Wednesday, June 28^th	Graduation Gala for our Grade 12 students. The Jubilee from 5:00pm to 9:00pm.
Friday, June 30^th	Grade 12 Commencement. The Tribute Centre at 10:00am.
Friday, July 7, 2023	Semester 2 Final Report Cards emailed to parents by the DDSB. Parents will require their student’s Ontario Education Number (OEN) to open the file. Please note Final Report Cards include records for the Graduation Requirements, including Community Involvement Hours and the Literacy requirement.
