Happy Friday everyone!

On Tuesday and Wednesday this past week O’Neill CVI were host to the Ontario Vocal Festivaland many schools and students from across Ontario. OVF is an event that promotes excellence in choral music to students and educators emphasizing non-competition through an atmosphere of music sharing. All staff and students participate in performance opportunities with the best clinicians from across Canada. It was an incredible event for all!  A huge thank you to Ms. Collins and the PA department for a wonderful experience for our students. See our Instagram for pics!

COMMUNITY EVENT

Maxwell Heights SCC is pleased to invite you to a Family Engagement event focusing on Youth Mental Health open to parents/guardians, staff and students grade 7 and up.

Please join us on Wednesday, April 2nd from 6 PM - 7:45 PM in the Maxwell Heights Secondary School library, for a free workshop on (Youth) Mental Health. Doors open at 5:45 PM. Light refreshments will be provided.

Led by Cheryl Parker, this much-needed session will focus on equipping parents/guardians with the tools needed to support their teens and themselves. *see attached.

 Open primarily to parents/guardians but students and staff are welcome to attend. To ensure a quality, hands-on experience, we can only host 100 guests. Registration closes Sunday, March 30th or whenever spots are filled.

Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT)

The spring OSSLT will be running next week on Tuesday, April 1, and Wednesday, April 2, 2025. Letters were sent home last week via email to all eligible Grade 10, 11 &/or 12 students who will be re-writing the OSSLT. Students will be given coloured slips in their homerooms to indicate location for the test, either the cafeteria and/or library. Any questions, please contact Vice Principal Biffin.

RESCHEDULED!!: Neon Nights School Dance

Come and get your groove on! We will be holding our Neon Nights dance on Thursday, April 10, 2025!

The main doors (at the front of the school) will be opened at 6:30pm (students can gather in the front entrance) but the dance will begin at 7pm and end at 9pm.

Important reminders;

• Only those with purchased tickets are allowed entry
• You must show current OCVI ID to enter
• You will not have access to your locker during the dance
• Coat check will be available
• Students are NOT allowed to bring in drinks/water bottles/containers of any kind
• Doors are open from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. There will be no late entry.

*Refreshments (snacks and drinks) will be available to purchase!

The Neon Nights Dance has been rescheduled to Thursday, April 10th! If you have NOT purchased a ticket yet, ticket sales will RE-OPEN on Tuesday, April 1 and will be on sale until Friday, April 4th during lunch in the main front foyer. This is the last school-wide dance of the year, so don’t miss out…get your tickets!

If you have previously purchased a ticket and now CANNOT attend the dance on the 10th, you may refund your ticket. All refunds will occur during our ticket sales April 1 to April 4th during lunch.
