May 9 2025 O'Neill CVI Social Media Challenge

Posted On Friday May 09, 2025

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The safety and well-being of the students and staff remains our top priority. With this in mind, we are writing to share some information about a social media trend that may impact our school.

A TikTok challenge (nicknamed “Senior Assassin”) is impacting secondary schools in the United States and elsewhere, wherein students sign up to purposefully bring water pistols/squirt guns/etc. to school for the purpose of Fortnite-style elimination games. The aim is that the last student not “tagged” with water is the winner. Students have been seen wearing water goggles and flotation aids as “immunity devices”.

We would like to remind students and families that any item that could be perceived as a weapon puts our students at risk. All reports of weapons on or near school property are taken seriously and actioned immediately. We ask that parents/guardians/caregivers speak to their kids about not bringing these items to school.

If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the office at 905-728-7531.

Sincerely,

,
