Dear Parents/Guardians,

Happy Friday everyone! A few short messages, events and dates to share;

COMMUNITY NEIGHBOURS

This week I have had to make announcements to all students regarding one of our community partners, Lakeridge Health Oshawa (LHO).

We have had complaints this week that our students accessed the Hospital cafeteria via the South entrance located near the Cancer Centre causing massive disruptions to those patients receiving cancer treatment. It was noted that this is not the first time this has happened. I was very disheartened and saddened to hear this from our community partner as I expected our students who access our neighbour’s facilities to treat all with respect and consideration, especially a facility like a hospital.

In speaking with our partners at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, as well as their Security team, the mention of banning all student access has arisen. However, they are willing to give all of the students one more chance!

Moving forward, access via the south entrance near the Cancer Centre is strictly prohibited. Students are to access the Hospital cafeteria, via the north entrance only (for entry and exit) by Alexandra Park.

Any students causing any disruptions will be brought to our attention and school consequences may result, as well, Lakeridge Health Oshawa may enforce a ban for all.

The expectation is that all students will behave responsibly, appropriately and respectfully while at LHO and take into consideration their surroundings and patient care while there.

Announcements have been made to all students and clear direction was given outside yesterday and today by administration towards the North Hospital doors during lunch.

I send a thank you and appreciation to all parents and guardians for helping to support this messaging at home.
