May 9 2025 O'Neill CVI Communications
Dear Parents/Guardians,
A lot has happened these past 2 weeks, so let us share a few messages, events, and dates before we head into the weekend;
Last week we had a successful and amazing Performing Arts trip to Boston last week. We saw some breathtaking performances, participated in a few singing and dancing workshops showing off our incredible talents, all the while learning a little bit of Boston history along the way. It was an incredible week and pictures have been posted to our O’Neill CVI PA instagram account. A huge thank you to Ms. Collins, Ms. Allison, Ms. Hunter and Mr. Billings and our students for making it such a memorable one!
This week was Children’s Mental Health week and our Positive School Climate (PSC) team has been sharing daily ways in which we support our mental health and well-being. On Wednesday, our PSC team ran many activities outside on our front lawn including bracelet-making, chalk designs, and skipping to help us focus on our physical and mental health and reminded us to take time for ourselves. On Thursday, Mya M., Diana S., and Gabrielle H., along with Ms. Connolly, showcased O'Neill's Positive School Climate Mental Health activities to students from all over Durham at the Stomping Out Stigma - Mental Health Conference!! Pictures can be found on our social media and remember Redhawks, prioritize yourself and your mental well-being.
A HUGE Congratulations to the O’Neill Robotics Team for winning 1st Place at the Skills Ontario Provincial Championships this past Tuesday. We recognize and congratulate Muhammad Ammar A., Jakob H., Dylan H., Dean D., and Wang Chun L., for all their incredible work this past school year as they finished off the 2025 season as Provincial Champions! Amazing work Redhawks!.And a huge thank you also goes to Mr. Snelgrove for all your guidance and support! Pictures coming soon to our Instagram.
Congratulations go to Liz P., Mya C., and Hekmatullah N. for winning the April Character Trait award for TEAMWORK! We saw all of you working cooperatively with others, valuing the opinions of others and encouraging others to participate in classroom activities, clubs and sports. Well done Redhawks!
Last night was the OCVI Performing Arts Spring Finale and it was truly an amazing showcase of student’s talents, both vocally and instrumentally. All performances were beautifully accomplished and the night ended with all students coming together for one big performance of Baba Yetu. A HUGE thank you to Ms. Collins, Ms. Allison, Ms. Hunter and Mr. Billings for your extraordinary direction and guidance.
