Mental Health & Wellbeing

Supporting your mental health and wellness is our top priority.  The Guidance Department is here to offer resources, connect you to community supports and to listen when you feel that you need a caring adult.  Taking care of your mind and body will contribute directly to your success at school.  Book an appointment with your counsellor any time if you feel that you, or someone that you care about, is in need of support.

Internal Supports

Guidance Department

Guidance can support you with any academic, personal, or family issues.  Stop by before school, at lunch, or after school to book an appointment.  Guidance counselors are available for students in crisis as well.  O'Neill students are also supported by DDSB Psychological Services and Social Work.  Your Guidance Counsellor can tell you more about the supports offered by both of these services.

Academic Resource (Room 321)

Ms Watson, Ms Rowden and all of the Educational Assistants are here to help you!  AR can help you manage your workload, your anxiety or any stressors that you have in the school.  While students with IEPs may visit more often, AR is available to help all of our students.  At lunch, AR is open for a quiet work space as you eat.  The room is also open daily after school for homework help.

Teachers

Your teachers care - if you are having an issue (in class or at home), talk to your teacher. They can help you find the specific supports that you may need.

Administration

Our principal (Ms Running) and vice-principals (Mr Lynch and Ms Wellwood) are available to meet with you whenever you need their help.  See them to report any bullying or issues in the school, or to discuss challenges you are having outside of school.
